Microsoft have now announced the public preview of Azure Monitor for Windows Virtual Desktop, providing a centralised overview of virtual machine performance metrics, monitoring telemetry to allow issues to be identified and resolved quickly. Here are some of the features Azure Monitor provides:
Overview of host pool status and health
Diagnose deployment issues including connectivity issues, host diagnostics, performance, client information, and top errors
Analyse of data per user metrics to quantify user feedback
Visual representation of utilisation metrics to facilitate scaling and cost management decisions
A4S have been feeding back regarding the most useful metrics to include in Azure monitor for WVD and Microsoft have done a great job at providing the most common data points required to monitor the environment.
An A4S implementation of Azure Monitor with Log Analytics and our hosted custom portal is here.
Undoubtedly there will be many more great additions to the Azure portfolio in the coming months/years, if you have any features you would like to see, leave a comment at the Microsoft feedback page: https://feedback.azure.com/
